Rescue Cove! Quest Guide

The Rescue Cove! chain is Condition 2 for the true ending — meet Cove in the forest outside Gadola and finish mushroom gathering before Night 6. Fail the deadline and you permanently downgrade to ED.3 even if Micoco's route is clean. This guide covers quest order, patch-specific recovery, and the v1.0.15 fix for repeat triggers under specific completion order.

Quest Overview and Night 6 Deadline

Rescue Cove! starts when Hills enters the forest outside the city and meets Cove. The arc includes escort dialogue, a material gathering step for forest mushrooms, and follow-up scenes that register Cove for later mandatory fights such as Tentacle Alpha.

Condition 2 deadline: Night 6. The Town Guide blue pin for Cove should clear before the day rolls into Night 6 — same calendar gate as Micoco at the guild and Misty's second Mayor shift. Track all three on the Requirements Checklist.

Cove's route ties directly to True Ending (ED.1) and the three-party Tentacle Alpha boss covered in Boss Strategies.

Forest Mushroom Gathering Step-by-Step

  1. Open the Town Guide after Port progress — Cove's forest node appears as a blue event when Condition 2 becomes active.
  2. Travel to the forest exterior during a daytime block with enough AP to complete both dialogue and gathering.
  3. Accept the material gathering objective; interact with marked mushroom spots before leaving the map.
  4. Return to Cove's camp scene when prompted — skipping the return dialogue can leave the quest stuck at 90% progress.

Poisonous mushroom visibility improved in Ver.1.0.9 for Abandoned Mine adjacent routes; forest nodes use distinct sparkle markers after journal update. If gathering fails a skill check, note the failure — recovery options below still apply thanks to later patches.

Sika Potion Fallback (v1.0.13) and City Forest Travel (v1.0.8)

Ver.1.0.13 — Hills can ask Sika to brew potions after certain story conditions even if Cove's material gathering failed. This prevents a dead soft-lock on companion registration when you missed a mushroom node but otherwise kept schedule. You still must meet Cove before Night 6; the potion replaces failed materials, not the entire quest.

Ver.1.0.8 — After successful Cove material turn-in, the game lets you choose direct travel to Cove's camp in City Forest instead of walking from the gate each visit. Use this for AP-tight days when Micoco guild scenes and Mayor jobs compete for the same afternoon.

Ver.1.0.12 fixed a Guard Station event edge case when stealing at the Noble Item Shop after failed Cove gathering — if your save predates the patch, update before relying on theft recovery routes.

v1.0.15 Repeat Trigger Fix and Safe Order

Ver.1.0.15 fixed the Rescue Cove! quest repeating under a specific completion order — players reported duplicate prompt loops when turning in materials after certain Port missions on the same day phase. Updated builds should fire each scene once.

Safe order recommendation:

  • Complete Port tavern / Reda beats needed for Micoco before forest mushroom turn-in when possible.
  • Finish gathering and Cove camp dialogue in one forest visit before starting unrelated Noble Item Shop theft on the same day phase.
  • If dialogue repeats, reload the morning save — pre-patch slots may still loop until you update Steam to v1.0.15.

Clearer hints before key events in the same patch also flash when selecting Cove's Town Guide node under-prepped — stock heals before any forced forest combat. See Patch Notes for the full changelog.

Last updated: July 2026 — Ver.1.0.15.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Sika's potion replace meeting Cove entirely?

No. You must meet Cove in the forest before Night 6. v1.0.13 only replaces failed mushroom materials after the meeting, not the introduction.

What happens if I miss Night 6?

Condition 2 fails. You can still finish the game, but true ending (ED.1) is locked — typically ED.3 if Micoco was met.

Why does Rescue Cove! repeat dialogue after the patch?

v1.0.15 fixed most loops. If it persists, verify game version and avoid Noble theft the same phase as material turn-in on old saves.
